This was my first ever short-form, documentary-style piece of video journalim. It's a project I created for my Video and Audio Storytelling course at BU during the Fall 2024 semester.
This is my longest documentary-style video to date (and my personal favorite one, too). From September to December, I spent months drafting interview questions, conducting interviews, shooting b-roll, and editing to create the final product you see here.
This is the story of Fabricio Paes, a 42-year-old East Boston native who stayed rooted in his community even in the midst of tragedy and immense hardship. He dives deep into his and his family’s past, chronicling how his parents immigrated to the United States and what his childhood was like in East Boston. He shares how the strength of his community was put to the test and ultimately remained steadfast when Paes and his family needed it the most.
